Bay United Soccer Club (BUSC) Tryouts and Bay County After School Assistance Program (ASAP) Fundraiser

The Bay United Soccer Club’s Board of Directors announced they will sponsor a local community fundraiser during their 2010/2011 season tryouts. BUSC is a youth soccer organization committed to building companionate leaders in our community who take on a mission outside the soccer field each year. Following the Haitian Earthquake Disaster, BUSC rose over $1300 during its Juggling for Haiti Fundraiser. This year the BUSC will accept cash donations during its 2010/2011 seasonal tryouts scheduled for June 1, 3, and 5 at its Frank Nelson Park facility. All proceeds will go to the Bay County After School Assistance Program.

The Bay United Soccer Club is one of the top competitive youth soccer club programs in the state of Florida. Two of its teams competed in the State of Florida “Final Four” this year and a total of four teams are currently ranked in the “Top 10” in the state of Florida.
BUSC promotes soccer for both boys and girls and is a member of the Florida Youth Soccer Association. The goals of the BUSC curriculum are to develop each player to their maximum potential by emphasizing fundamentals including:

Technical/Tactical Skills Training
Strategic Game Planning
Sportsmanship
Preparation for the Olympic Development Program (ODP)
Speed/Agility/Quickness

Each player will train with a nationally licensed coach who understands the need to build on fundamentals while delivering solid tactical and strategies insight to the game of soccer. Five players were selected for the State of Florida ODP which is a State “All Star” type team which competes as “Team Florida” in National Level competition. Many of our players have gone on to play for college teams, receiving soccer and academic scholarships at universities including: University of Oklahoma, Troy State University, University of Alabama, Tulane University, University of West Florida, Huntingdon College, Air Force Academy, University of Mississippi and the University of South Florida.

Bay United Soccer Club Inc.

Haitian Youth Soccer Fundraising Campaign

Juggling for Haitians Charity Event

The Bay United Soccer Club’s (BUSC) Board of Directors unanimously approved the establishment of a Haitian Youth Soccer Fundraising Campaign.  BUSC, a local nonprofit organization committed to promoting youth soccer in Northwest Florida, has provided competitive youth soccer programs in our area since 1991.  The goal of the campaign is to provide financial support and material resources to Haitian youth soccer programs.  BUSC President Darrel Hallmon announced the club will initiate the campaign by sponsoring a soccer ball juggling charity event at Panama City’s Frank Nelson Park, 4201 W 23rd Street on Saturday, February 6th from 11 am to 1 pm.  Although BUSC will target participation from the growing number of Bay County youth soccer players, the event will be open to general public.  The BUSC coaching staff will conduct periodic informal ball handling clinics and offer participants tips for mastering their juggling and other related skills.   The event is intended to provide local youngsters the opportunity to demonstrate citizenship by supporting a cause they share with fellow soccer players in Haiti who must now endure even greater hardship following this most recent monumental natural disaster.

A charitable donation to the campaign can be made at the event.   The club is encouraging all participants to collect pledges from local businesses, neighbors, relatives and friends and suggests a pledge of $5 per half hour of juggling. Pledge forms can be printed off, filled out and turned in at the event on Saturday, February 6 from 11am to 1pm at Frank Nelson Park.

Haitian Health Foundation (HHF) Soccer Program Pledge Form

All proceeds from this event will be sent directly to the Haitian Health Foundation (HHF) Soccer Program: “The Next Generation of Healthy Women”.   A prerequisite for joining this soccer program requires Haitian youths to attend a 6 day course on female reproductive health.  The HHF was founded by Dr. Jeremiah J. Lowney following a 1982 Port au Prince trip he made to provide free dental care.   Over 92 percent of HHF’s funds collected go directly to services for the poor.  For more on HHF’s Soccer Program please visit: www.haitianhealthfoundation.org/index.php/programs/special-projects/ .
