Fusion U12 Boys Black Stanford Classic Success

The Livermore Fusion U12 Boys Team Fury traveled to Palo Alto this past weekend for the Stanford Summer Classic soccer tournament. The boys went 3-0 in their bracket with wins against higher ranked opposition. They kicked off the tournament with a tough game against Scotts Valley and after being down 0-2 at half-time, they made a very impressive comeback to win the game 3-2. In the following game they dominated Sunnyvale Alliance Elite Silver and secured a comfortable 6-1 victory. In the final game of their bracket they took an early 3-0 lead against North State Red Devils and survived a strong fight back by the opposition to win 4-3 in the end. With these 3 victories Fusion won their bracket and progressed to the championship game on Sunday afternoon against PSA Royals Pre-Academy. This was a tough game against a strong team and despite having countless attempts on goal in the first half, Fusion could not break through the strong Royals defense. Towards the end of the half, a soft free-kick was awarded to the Royals on the edge of the box which they converted to go in 1-0 up at half-time. Fusion came out strong again after the break and commenced their continuous attack on the Royals goal to no avail. With Fusion pushing forward to get the equalizer, the Royals caught them on the break to increase their lead. Despite an incredible final effort by the Fusion boys, the final score ended 1-4 to PSA Royals. Overall this was an exciting weekend of soccer with the kids far exceeding expectations in their first outing of the new season.
