Fall-Spring 2014-2015 Season Startup....

Welcome
The Fall 2013-Spring 2014 Season is about to start up.   Here are some pointers to help your family get started with AYSO Region 183.

Check your mailbox
On August 19th 2013, Region 183 sent out to your player's registered home street address a player notification postcard.    On the post card is the Team Contact Name, Phone Number and Team Number.    Please keep in mind that the Team Contact maybe the coach, assistant coach, or team parent.   Your Team Number is very important.   Please remember your team number.   This is a very important detail so as to when you arrive to the fields you can remember your child's field assignment.

Team contact phone call or email
Before the start of the season, our team contact will have received the team rosters.   Each team contact will be reaching out to with a phone call and/or an email to you.

Remember Your Player's Team Number and Coach Name!
Your Team Number is very important.   Please remember your team number and coach name.   This is a very important detail so as to when you arrive to the fields.

Fall 2013 - Spring 2014 Season
Your team assignment follows the school year for both the Fall 2013 and Spring 2014 Seasons.  Your player is registered to play both seasons!   Please keep this in mind.   We have had families just register for the fall season and not know that there is a Spring season.

Fall 2013 Season Game Days

  • Sept 14th
  • Sept 21st
  • Sept 28th
  • Oct 5th
  • Oct 12th

Team Parent Meeting
Your team contact will inform you of the first team parent meeting for you team.   This is very important to attend.    At the team parent meeting, your volunteer coach will go over the AYSO Vision and Mission statement, training/practice times, game schedules, snack schedule, team contact list and season details.

In addition, your coach will hand out the AYSO Parents' Pledge, and AYSO/CDC Concussion Form for you to sign and return.   This is very important that you read and understand what's being covered in both forms.

Uniform Pickup
At the start of the season, your authorized AYSO volunteer team parent or coach from your team will be picking up the uniform from our volunteer distribution location.   Uniforms are handed out a the first team meeting with the coach and team contact.      Sizes of the uniform are matched with the player registration form.    Players who register in person with parent confirmed the uniform size.

Team Practices / Training Sessions
Your volunteer coach will determine the training session / practice times for the teams.    Most practices are on Tuesdays and/or Thursdays.

Field Locations and Names
We have 3 fields named
  • Hollywood Park (HP)
  • Peterson Park North (PPN)
  • Peterson Park Stouth (PPS)

The difference between Peterson Park North and Peterson Park South is specifically the location relative to the wooded area that separates the two field locations.    PPN is the park location is where one can see standing on Peterson Ave and Central Park Ave.    There is only one playground at this location.   PPS is the park location that has the field house, tennis courts, basketball courts, and playground.  If you Google Map "Peterson Park AYSO" you will see the difference between north and south locations.

Equipment Purchase
Before the team parent meeting, you'll need to be sure that your player has the proper equipment.    The player must have at least fitted shinguards, soccer shoes and properly sized soccer ball.

The team parent meeting, maybe held before or after your player's first team training.   So therefore its very important that if your player is attending the first training session that player must be dressed to player soccer, wearing shinguard, soccer shoes and ready to play soccer.

A player will not be playing soccer - practice or games, if soccer shoes and shinguards are not worn.    At all training session, practices and games, the player must be wearing shinguards, soccer shoes, and also arrive with a water bottle and soccer ball.   We stress that every player brings a soccer ball with them.

Soccer Ball Sizes
  • Size 3 =  U05, U06, U08 Divisions
  • Size 4 =  U10 and U12 Divisions
  • Size 5 =  U14, U16 and U19 Divisions

Wearing glasses, watches, earings, etc.
During play, any object that is attached to the player must be taken off.    Examples would be watches, necklaces, glasses, or earings.   If your player recently received an piercing (ear, etc.), the object must be taken off the player and stored away.   This is an AYSO safety requirement, and should the player wear the object, the player will not be allowed to play according to regulations.

We realize that some youth players may have received piercings recently, but for the time on the field (short period) the earings or objects must be taken off - we ask that players abide by this regulation.

Shutterfly Team Web Site
Your coach may use the team's AYSO Shutterfly Web Site for email communications, game schedule and snack schedule.   If your team is not using this, your coach may ask for help from team parents to help get it started.    The site is free to use.   To learn more about this, please visit the Shutterfly AYSO web site.
